The best way to determine the method and leather cleaner for cleaning leather is to determine the type of leather and the type of stain.
Generally, finished leather such as bags, luggage, furniture and garments are easier to clean and maintain than unfinished leather (gloves, saddles and work boots).

Rub the leather using a damp cloth with gentle moisturizing soap as a leather cleaner. Bring it to lather. Avoid putting too much water on the leather. Wipe away the lather with fresh damp cloth. Do not rinse it with water. Once the leather is dry, treat it with leather conditioner. Mild oil such as olive oil is a natural leather conditioner.
Unfinished leather.
Use damp cloth to gently rub saddle soap as a leather cleaner on the leather. Wipe the lather away and allow the leather to dry. Apply leather preservative.
